Teacher Appreciation Door Decorations 2015

Hooray for Teacher Appreciation Week!
We got some really fun doors this year I just had to share with you!
This is our last year in Elementary school~I'm a bit tearful about it, so I took on doing 4 doors to decorate this year!  I know, I'm totally crazy, but I totally love it!
First up is my Ode to Yoda~for our Librarian Mrs. Mortensen.  I just love her!
I always try to personalize my daughter's teacher's door and since they have been learning all about U.S. History and the Constitution, this seemed fitting with Mrs. Webster as the Statue of Liberty.  She's done an AMAZING job teaching our kids about National pride.  We adore her!
This door is for our wonderful Principle Mrs. Gourley.  She has watched over my kiddo from Kindergarten and I'll be forever grateful.  I got my ideas for this door from a couple of differenct chalkboard artists I found on Pinterest totally from 2 amazing shops~make sure to go check them out Chalkboardhouse and Lily & Val!  Very cool stuff!
This door is for our School Safety Officer Mrs. Christianson~she does so much for our school and keeps our kids safe!

Here are some more of the doors~there were some really great ones this year!
Check out the cute martian!  Look familiar to something I did a few years ago?
I got such a kick out of seeing this!  This is exactly why I post pictures of these doors each year, hopefully to inspire and help others out with what sometimes seems like an overwhelming task.  This made my heart just happy!

My husband asked me how much time I put into my doors and it's several hours honestly.  I am not an over achiever, I am not a mom that has too much time on my hands, I'm a mom who is honestly so grateful for these amazing teachers and people that have such an impact on our kids.  I wish I had a hidden camera to capture the look on these teacher's faces when they see their doors, or even more so when their door isn't decorated.  It's like a kid on Christmas morning.  So if a few hours of my life is given so that they know they are loved....well, that's hardly anything compared to what they give to us.  Now, let me step down off my soap box...:)

Have a great weekend friends!

Teacher Appreciation Door Decorations 2014

Finally as promised~Teacher Appreciation
 Door Decorations for 2014!
This year I got to do 3 doors, one for my daughter's teacher:

This year they have been learning all about Idaho State History~so Cowboys, Indians, Pioneers and all things cool about Idaho the famous Gem State and producer of Potatoes!  Mrs. West has been phenomenal and I'm glad that my girl got her for a teacher since she is retiring. I found an old movie poster for my inspiration and painted a version of her.  It's really quite hard to do something~paint, paper~whatever on a scale this size.  I've learned to "GO BIG OR GO HOME"!  My daughter helped me paint and I cut all the letters out with my Cricut.
One for our Librarian:

This one was easy~just the idea since we were seated near our favorite librarian when we went to go see Wicked a few weeks ago.  Can I just say~WE LOVED IT!  There is no other music played in the car or house right now except Wicked music.:)  I cut everything out of paper and painted on the skin color for Glinda and the facial features.  Letters I cut out with my Cricut.

One for our Head Janitor/Mr. Does Everything for our school:

I painted this one again.  Paint sounds crazy right~it actually is a lot easier than trying to cut all that paper to scale.  I cut him out of paper first and then painted him.  Mr. Ernie collects all thing Ernie, as you can imagine, and knew this would be perfect for him.  I was delighted to hear that he was going to have it laminated to hang up later.  Cool!

Here are the other doors this year~some really fun ones!  I especially liked the Rock Star one, The Minion was hilarious and still makes me smile every time I walk by it and of course the Taco's for the Lunch Ladies.

We decorate every staff members doors for the week and they keep them up until the end of the year.  It doesn't seem like a very big deal but our teachers absolutely love it!  I have offered to do all the door decorations next year~sorta like my parting gift to the school as my daughter will move on to Middle School~oh, that sounds like a curse word to my ears!  I'm thinking I'm a bit crazy and I didn't think the PTO would take me up on it!

I'm always loving to hear what everyone else does for Teacher Appreciation Week.  We provide a potluck lunch every day for our staff, usually with a theme like Baked Potato Bar, Soup, Salad Bar, stuff like that.  We do gift card drawings each day for our teachers.  We decorate their doors and then each class has their own list of things to do each day~anything from a sweet treat, bringing in a flower or even just a thank you card.  It's really a tender week for all involved and it feels so good to give back.

What do you do at your school?

Teacher Appreciation Door Sign

This week has been C*R*A*Z*Y!!!!
We've gotten such great feed back from our school on how
spoiled the teachers all felt!
I love hearing that!
Our final gift this week was a door sign for my daughter's teacher.
I made one a couple of years ago for her other teacher
who had just gotten married.
I cut out a cute pencil shape and decoupaged papers and letters onto the front.
I think this one turned out fun too!
I'm going to list them in my Etsy shop if anyone is interested for end of year teacher gifts.

The funniest thing about this week was yesterday as I chatted and confirmed that I had the sign all done with my Co-Room Mom Meghan~who also teaches at another school, she said that she wished that one of her students would make a sign for her!  I could barely keep a straight face since I had just finished making one for her too!  I hope all of the wonderful teachers out there know how much they are loved!  Thank you for all you do to help our little ones!

Teacher Appreciation Door Decorations 2013

I promised you door decor and here it is!
This year my daughter and I decided to do a Harry Potter themed door for her classroom.
Her class of friends have all started reading the first few Harry Potter books
and they have their own version of Harry Potter tag they play at recess, so it seemed fitting.
Her teacher is dressed up as Professor McGonagall casting a "Smartify" spell!
I personally think it's hilarious and so does my kid~so that's all that matters.
Her teacher said it filled up her Happy Well for the day~and that made my day!

I always beg to do the Librarian's door because she is one of my favorites at our school!
I have a thing for paper fringe right now and new it would work great with this Lion!  Yes, the lion has apparently been snacking on a few too many zebras, my daughter scolded me when she got home and saw it.  I guess it was supposed to look more like a Littlest Pet Shop lion....

Here's all the other doors!
I personally loved the scrubbing bubble door for the janitors~so cute!
The ice cream cone is completely 3-D, with Ikea kid plates wrapped in cellophane to mimic candy!
Didn't they turn out cute!?!

We celebrate all week long at our school.  Our PTO and volunteers provide a potluck lunch, each day with a different theme, all week long.  I'm in charge on Wednesday with "Finger Foods"~so all things appetizers.  I thought it would be a fun twist for this year.  We do all sorts of raffles and prizes for the teachers all week long as well as each individual class doing their own list of things.  Tell us, what do you do at your school to celebrate Teacher Appreciation?

Bake Your Teacher A Thank You!

BYTTY_banner_v2
As I'm scrambling to put the finishing touches on my
Teacher Appreciation Door Decorations tonight
I thought I would share a fun idea we found for Teacher Appreciation Week.

Over at The Mom 100 Blog they have a cute idea you can
not only use for Teacher Appreciation Week but also for any time of year!
It's called Bake Your Teacher A Thank You
It's a Potluck of different cookies that can be
baked and brought to your school to show your teachers how much you care.
It's been so popular that some have a special cookie day once a month.
I know our teacher's would love that!

Make sure to head over and see their cute ideas and recipes!
Also they have a great "Bake Your Teacher A Thank You" Sweepstakes
you'll want to make sure to enter!

Now back to gluing on letters.....:)

PS. Don't forget to check back this weekend to see who will win the Gift Certificate from Shabby Apple and to see the Fabulous Door Decorations for this year!  Squeal!  I'm so excited to see what everyone does!

Teacher Appreciation Week 2012

Teacher Appreciation Week 2012 is officially here!
Friday was a crazy scramble trying to get
each Teacher and Staff member's door decorated!
It was so fun to see all the great ideas everyone had
but even more so was the great feeling in the air
of doing something nice for those special Teachers from our school!

This year I only had to do 2 doors,
yes only~that sounds crazy but I was almost disappointed
I didn't have more to do but grateful that I actually got them
done on time with out stressing out too much!:)
This year I went with movie themes
and since my daughter has the same teacher that moved
up grades~I had to incorporate her into the design!
Above is her door~
Who doesn't love a little bit of the Wizard of Oz!
Here's my second door for our fabulous Librarian!
I've been hanging around Candace's little guy
who's obsessed with Toy Story~~it's kinda rubbed off.
I especially loved the cute cupcake ideas which would be super easy to do
and the door that looked like it was graffiti!  Very Cool!
Make sure to bookmark these great ideas for next year!
Plus an extra SPECIAL THANKS to all of you AMAZING TEACHERS
who inspire everyone around you!

Teacher Door Decorations

Somehow I was talked into decorating
4 Doors for Teacher Appreciation Week!
(Susie you are very persuasive *wink*)
But, just because I may be a little crafty
doesn't mean I have a non stop supply
of crafty ideas, especially when it comes
to clever ways to do up a door.
I also thought it would be so easy
to just google and get ideas to do....
but I found there weren't very many ideas out there.
I was so frustrated and wasted so much time just
trying to come up with something
that by the time I got to doing the doors
I wasn't feeling too crafty.

I quickly found out that glue sticks and construction paper
aren't really good together.
That you should always plan for a door to have a handle.
That even if things look straight laid out on the ground
while you are gluing them on, they will look really
crooked when they are hung up.
Oh, and yes, a "g" looks backwards too
when you are gluing it on at midnight.

So, I thought it would be fun to share some of the fun doors
that were done at our school!
Here's a few that were already up when I went
to hang up mine.
Didn't they turn out great!!!
This is the one I did for my daughter's teacher.
They have been reading Charlotte's Web
and I just couldn't resist!
I cannot begin to explain the appreciation
I have for this good teacher of hers.
I have been able to volunteer a lot this year
and I have loved every minute!
What a debt we owe to our teachers!
So thank you Mrs. Burris!
You are indeed "Some Teacher"!

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter Holiday!
We had a fun potluck family dinner
and I made chocolate dipped strawberries
for the first time.
I was amazed at how quickly they disappeared!
It was great and we came home stuffed and content.
Is there any better feeling?:)
