Last night I made a trip to Home Depot to check out Martha's lovely paint. I found these taupe/gray swatches that I enjoyed. I was all ready to tint some paint when I peeked over into the mis-tints.
Gray Behr paint for 2.00!!! Paint and PRIMER. A gallon of this normally goes for 32.98! The guy at the check out stand thought it was a mistake. I guess someone accidentally tipped it and a third of it is gone. There's still a ton left. This gray will have to do. It's not as pretty as Martha's, but for two bucks I will take it!
My projects have been on hold due to this in my kitchen. My house is a wreck right now and I feel like a caged gerbil in my own home. We are living in the kitchen. My bathtubs are full of junk and you can barely get to the toilets. I have been bathing my baby in a utility sink, I think he kinda likes it! On Monday we had new carpet cleaners visit the home. We don't get the floors professionally cleaned very often, so it was a big deal.
So, this is what I found AFTER he cleaned the carpets. I was so sad! I thought he would do a better job.
This is just plain gross and it cost SO much money!
Look at this pile of cheese crackers I missed picking up in the boys room. (I was in a hurry to move everything) He just steam cleaned around them and left them to get soggy in the wet carpet!
He came back today, and finished the job correctly. I didn't get mad, I just told him what a big deal this is to me.....and a lot of money. One week of anxiety for me. Silly things I worry about, but my baby is crawling everywhere and it has been so dirty.
Anyway, after I just grossed you out with our filth....I can now refocus on my little project I picked up in the thrift store a few weeks ago. I zoomed right in on it because I have seen a gal in our town do great things with one. I would never have seen what it could become. So, thank you...you know who you are!:)

I would be livid with that cleaner guy. I know how much that service costs, and to 'go around' a crumb pile is totally unacceptable. Perhaps a complaint to his manager may have given you 15 or 20% off? I usually rent a RugDoctor from walmart. It's only $25 or $30, plus cost of detergent, and you get the machine for 24 hours. Looking around, I think I am a 'little' over due for a rental! ;)

And, yes I should have rented a Rug Doctor. I would have had better results, and saved a lot of money and time!

My husband cleaned carpets for years as a side business and it used to infuriate him when he'd hear stories like this because he took his job very seriously. He even worked for ServePro and they clean up biohazardous materials at times. I'm glad they came back and did it right the 2nd time. What a pain, though! Can't wait to see what you do with the gun cabinet!!
It is hard to feel out of place in your own home when everything is turned upside down. Hope you are getting things back in order now. Workers over here never, ever clean up their messes. All their garbage is just left behind for someone else to clean up. Makes me so mad. When it came to painting, I did the whole place myself because I knew someone else would just come in, make a mess, take too much time and leave. I did it in my own time and if there was a mess, I could only blame myself. Hate relying on others for something, especially when they don't do it right the first time. Cleaning an untidy home is always a great bonding for the family. I used to do the same thing with my brother when we were still young like you. What we did in Sugar land, carpet cleaning and wall painting will always be the best. We always add play time to what supposed to be as a serious general cleaning moment.
